Mark, Bill and Irwin had a labor Management Meeting with HR and they discussed the vacation accruals have been corrected, training in divisions and next they will talk about safety.
City is having a money crunch and they are not filling any general fund positions such as admins, etc. The fund is less favorable with the water restrictions since only watering once a week, amendment one. The City will reacess in January 09. The contract raises are in effect as negotiated.
There is a pension reopening. Dicussion of possible changes. Need a accuary report.
The new web site www.afscme2017.org for our local is up and running thanks to Cathy. It is a work in progress. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
The newsletter was done by Larry. Thank you Larry and will be placed on the web site to view.
Mark attended a tailgate party with Solid Waste but no one spoke up.
Committees:
e. Treasurers Report-Cathy the financial statement and expense report as of Jan 31/08 shows balance $4, 262.08 signed by Mindy and Fred the trustees.
f. Membership is 70.Cathy made membership packets for new employees. Need a check for $20.00 to Bill Woznak for signing a new member.
g. Health Committee-Chuck attended meeting and we are moving toward a consumer driven plan, prevention, & wellness. A men's health fair was just held by HR. Another Health Care meeting will be held this week 3/13 and will have more information after the meeting.
h. Pension-Robert Monico is working-For Pension opener we will be looking at COLA, Multiplier, Drop, Buyout.-We will need a Contract negotiation team.
Unfinished Business:
i. Bulk mailing is very expensive for the amount of mail we send. Suggested we use regular mail.
Solid Waste-We need to keep the task force. They have a fairly new superintendant. Mark is trying to set up a meeting with Management & Solid Waste employees to dicsuss issues. He will let everyone know when this will happen.
We are going to present Eddie Walker with a plaque and a gas card at the next meeting for his long standing Union membership since he has just retired after 33 years.
